Sonrisa!
After living aboard our 27 foot Cascade sailboat for 6 months, Sarah got tired of me complaining that I couldn’t do the dishes due to lack of headroom. Â We were also tired of arguing who got to lay comfortably on the one settee. Â So the search began, and through a series of lucky events we found and made an accepted offer to purchase Sonrisa, for sale down in San Diego.
Here she is where we first saw her
Organizing the haul-out in San Diego, the de-rigging, loading onto the truck, border/import formalities, re-rigging, and launch was an Olympic feat of logistics, which miraculously went off without a hitch.
Here she is having the mast pulled
Loaded on the truck. Â There was a moment of minor panic when the driver scraped our new boat against the gutter of one of the yard buildings as he pulled out. Â Only 2200 kilometers to go!
Our driver made it to Vancouver so fast that we calculated he had not slept more than a few hours over the entire trip. Â We re-rigged in Vancouver, and put her in the local waters for the first time.
