So, this mostly neglected blog was pretty much abandoned over the summer, but I have an excuse! We’ve relocated to Gabriola Island. Actually, I’m not sure that’s much of an excuse, but I need something to blame my laziness on.

Anyways, we’ve rented a small cabin for the winter, so we’ll be living ashore for the first time in almost five years. The kids have been enjoying all the space and I’ve been appreciating all the luxuries of house-living (like a shower less than a block away). This is sort of a trial period for living on the island. Ideally we’ll live here for the winter and then move back to the boat for the summer, so fingers crossed we can set things up to make this happen.

and the view from our front window (oh yeah, the great thing about Gabriola is that we can rent a waterfront cabin for less than a tiny apartment in the city, and our moorage here is 1/3 of what it was in Vancouver).
